Design is what matters, not size
tic-toc's photo makes the point.
The Calatrava 96 is perfect in its design and symmetry. That is what catches the eye, not its "small size.". ...and explains why it was produced for over 60 years. Stretching and flattening the case in the 5196 and using the original 215 calibre, only results in a "big" watch for the sake of bigness.
PP have produced some attractive large watches, but these can be said to have legitimate design integrity, unlike the 5196

So what's not to love?
Probably the position of the seconds dial. It sits one third of the way up the dial, as the CAL 215 is too small for the flattened out case. I don't know why PP has joined the "big is better" brigade. Regards

Nothing wrong with larger size watch, rather proportion in my opinion is more important. Imagine if patek ref. 5970 is as thick as a Big Mac Hamburger ? In recent years, Patek has made stunning larger size watches, "my thoughts" are, patek ref. 5196pt isn...

Hi, Ref 5196 is a gorgeous watch IMVHO! Platinum or not by the way, even if the platinum is the top one! Of course I'd love and prefer to see a 32mm large new hand wind calibre from PP, but the cal 215 is not bad at all! Let's hope! Cheers Dje
