I was really missing a yellow gold dress watch in my collection, despite quite some options out there could not think of much better than the classic and timeless simplicity of a vintage Calatrava. And if it comes with a beautiful historical movement and ...  

And true marvel to behold... Looking for a correct crown. It's bracelet currently being serviced in Plan-Les-Ouat.

Not puting all my hopes there, guess I wil be complicated. Saw one for sale on ebay a while ago, not anymore there. Will need to keep looking...

......and an historic movement for Patek Philippe too...12-600AT.... I know there is actually some debate about which model hit the markets first...2552 or 2526...... but it would seem sensible to argue 2526

The term icon is too often misused but it fits here. A really historically important and beautiful model.

This is a true gem for me, one can hardly think getting tired of this watch, in general Calatravas fill their low-profile dressing function perfectly and the 2526 offers so much more for the informed wearer.

That dial is stunning and the whole watch just whispers simple class and elegance. I enjoyed seeing it. Regards Kev.

Wearing it for the first day today! The dial is so pure and serene, looking at it almost relaxes you.

An absolute classic. IMO, For a simple "dress" watch, nothing beats a vintage Calatrava.

The next most classic thing in my collection would be a Moser Perpetual 1 for the dial (but much heavier and bigger) or the Langematik Anniversary that coincidentally has an enamel dial as well but would say can be dressed down a bit due to the red XII; t...

Is all I can say... What a show-stopper! This is one of my grails for sure, enjoy it, I'm sure you absolutely will!

"Heaven" The 5196 wants to have a night out with this one, but this one doesnt have time.

And if only they would have kept it 2 or 3 mm smaller it would be a difficult choice for a lot of people who prefers not to worry about old movements!

You can't mess with perfection. The 2526 is a reference against which all future calatravas are measured and few can compare.

Wear it in good health. I like the blue strap a lot, it makes a different, fresh look. Unfortunately, my 2526 gets nearly no wristtime, so I was already thinking about to sell it. But may be I should try a non-black strap as well... ...  

Of course there are many beautiful Calatravas but the 2526 is for me THE Queen of all . As you said you only have to find the right crown but more important is to have a case and a movement in very good condition, and a dial in perfect condition. It seems...
