These wood marquetry pieces are only made by one or two master craftsmen in the world. Definitely a very rare and very finite art. Much rarer than enamel!

When I visited Sorrento, Italy, I noticed there was a lot of this wood engraving detail, marquetry, and inlays. I wonder if one day the Sorrento region can produce a craftsman who will one day be able to make wristwatch dials? Maybe!

The chance that this will happen with me is close to zero. Norway not a big enough market I would have to get a commissioned piece (and I have feeling that is not going to happen) 😂
Thanks, though I wouldn’t necessarily rule out Norway — it naturally offers plenty of inspiration, and many choices are unrelated to the market (think of the 2019 African elephant ;-)
