After taking some time to digest the aesthetic direction of Patek's 2009 collection (lots of Rose Gold for Asian markets etc) and pondering the global financial landscape that's evolved since last autumn, I've come to a greater understanding, appreciation...

I can't help feeling that you are somewhat overstating things. I think there's a good argument that the 5107 itself, which you laud, was just chasing trends and trying to generate revenue rather than make a "lasting impression" on the horological communit... 

I actually had that thought myself but the sheer number of RG pieces this season left me with the distinct impression that Patek was looking East (far east) for it's sales. I just felt like it was too much, and didn't really serve the collection. Maybe I'... 

I would probably prefer 5107P to 5127P (if there were one). To me, it's undoubtedly one of the most beautiful basic watches. (Pictures borrowed)...

I bought one of these a little over a year ago. It is so perfect I have more or less retired from watch-buying. Beautiful piece.
