before anything else it was the beauty
15 years ago when i was about 18, I was thumbing through a magazine, maybe GQ or ESQUIRE etc. They had the obligatory article on watches that are so common in mens magazines. Mind you at this time I had no knowledge of watches at all really. I knew the name ROLEX and TAG etc. but had no idea what the cost of watches were at all. I thought maybe a rolex cost 2000 dollars at the most. Regardless I liked wristwatches and always liked looking at them in magazines and in stores etc. Well in the article with the usual pictures of watches was what I later came to know as a Patek 5110. I didn't recognize the name and I had no real idea of what all the names of the cities were for but I was positively transfixed by how beautiful it was. The article didn't have any prices in it, it was just showcasing watches it deemed good. I went home and got on my computer and looked up the mysterious name PATEK PHILIPPE. i spelled it wrong but eventually landed on a grey market site that had a large number of references on it, and there it was, the watch i had seen in the magazine. I was shocked and horrified by the price being young and completely broke, but I couldn't get picture of it out of my mind.
so thats what did it for me, pure beauty.
cheers, kevin

I don't just love Pateks, I love a lot of other brands as well. Patek has many that I do love quite a bit however, I try to find the strength of a manufacturer and pursue the items that, in my opinion, they do better than anyone else. So for me, conservat...

I have to agree, I'm starting to dislike Patek Philippe because some speculators who buy Patek Philippe are using them as "trading tools" are becoming increasingly annoying and more prevalent on this website. Sometimes when I see a fake Patek Philippe pic...

For me it is the history and aura of the brand in the background but equally fascinating the timeless design and elegant understatement. It is a nice feeling to wear an example of the best watch brand in the world with most people not knowing. The perfect...

Balance, perfection
By: cisco : February 28th, 2010-02:09
I do not like all Pateks, I prefer some Lange finish, some Dubuis dials, some Vacheron design... But when Patek succeeds in a model, most of the time no other exists any more. No comparison are possible. Because the balance is perfect, and makes it all. T...
