Don't Give Up So Fast on the Nautilus
Your experience with one 5711/1A may differ from that with another of the exact same watch. I once tried on a 5712 SS, whose bracelet is the same as that of the 5711/1A but which strangely pinched my wrist; as I had said previously, I never experienced this problem with the 5711/1A. Given that the bracelets are finished by hand, it is possible that the edges of the links on the one you tried were not sufficiently polished to result in a smooth contour. As to your question as to when to wear the Nautilus vs. the Aquanaut, that, of course, is a matter of personal taste. The Nautilus is an extremely versatile watch, properly worn with a suit or weekday casual dress. I cannot say enough good things about its wearability, providing you don't look upon it as an extreme sports watch. I usually wear my Aquanaut only on weekends but almost all week during the hot summer months due to the comfort of the tropical strap. The wonderful thing about these two complementary watches is that one really only needs one more piece--a "dressier" model, such as a Calatrava or Annual/Perpetual Calendar--to cover all the bases (I wish I practiced what I preach!). Without a watch as elegant yet versatile as any in the Nautilus line, there will be a real gap in your collection. And, unfortunately, there are very few SS watches out there from which to choose that would satisfy this need. Again, best of luck in your quest.

Hair pinching Nautilus

A week ago I was invited to visit the shop of the AD, who sold me an Aquanaut some two years ago. The plan was that I should fit the Nautilus 5711-1A he just received and at the same time would be enchanted by the Nautilus just enough to let the AD put my...

The pinching you experienced is one of the many reasons I sold my AP Royal Oak and purchased a 5711/1A instead; the Royal Oak's large links pinched my skin and tugged at my wrist hairs, a problem I do not experience with the thinner links of the 5711/1A. ...
So sorry to hear ....

as i dont have much hair around my wrist, so i cant share your unfortunate experience. Ha. Recently, i saw a yg nautilus 3800 filled with diamonds, if it was on your wrist, im sure the glitter and the bling will take your mind of the pinch.

I also have the same problem. When i tried it on at the AD it was very comfortable but after wearing it on for a long period of time, everytime the watch moves it pulls on my wrist hair. Have tried to loosen the bracelet but does not help. Perhaps coming ...
The picture is quite old

I sold the RO last year because, even on a strap, it didn't win the battle for my wrist against the Nautilus. And, as much as I love Gerald Genta designs, it had to go and make room for another "opponent": Roger Dubuis Hommage Chrono Monopoussoir (I poste...
Yes, it is wider.

It really has the size of one link and a half. You put this one and you take out a normal link. It makes a huge difference. I bought it from a well known AD in Zurich. I will PM you the name. Best, This message has been edited by radone on 2010-04-07 06:5...
