Genta's original design
lasted from 1976 till 2006. That makes 30 years in total. I have never heard about problems with the case design. The two-part case makes it possible to build the watch also a little bit slimmer. If I remember right, 3712 is 0.2 mm slimmer than 5712. Another huge difference.

Looks like quite a bit of difference that does not meet the eye. THE reason that PP moved to a 2 piece case construction form the original Genta 2 peice is just cost driven or was there perhaps a deemed flaw?

I am looking at my 5712 and it looks to me that even though the case is made of three parts the only way to open it is from the shoulders.
