Patek Philippe

Dear Patek Philippe lovers, I am about to purchase my first PP watch (second hand of course) and I don't know which one to choose among 5015 and 5054 models. I am considering only those 2 ones because I want both moon phase and power reserve indicator. Co...  

I would personally go with the 5054 between those two. It\'s a bit more of a classic look, and I\'ve never been convinced by the quasi hobnail bezel of the 5015. Also, the moon phase of the 5054 is more traditional. Finally, I believe the 5054 had a hunte... 

Actually they both have the hunter caseback. To be honest, I prefer the 5015 but absolutely everyone around me prefers the 5054 so I try to convince myself through this post to take the 5054 Also one good point for this point is the date: it's one more co... 

it is more classic, more Patek-like. The watch is also much easier to sell if you would like to do that one day. Good luck! Kari

Depends if you are more a casual guy. The 5015r with hobnail bezel would be more for formal wear. But both have a good movement in the 240 Cal. So chose prudently. If you can afford , get both you won't go wrong. Cheers. Geross.

And it is purely based on the design. The 5054 has no exuberance, is not big theatre compared to the 5015. The 5054 is watch but the 5015 is something different than just a watch. I very much like the period and baroque look of it! Best Moritz

To be honest I agree with you. I like the baroque style of number font, compare to 5054 which has something like "Arial-style" numbers.. But for such a purchase I have to consider also the resell, years later, and a few people like the Clous de Paris case... 

I have also bought a Patek for myself that is known to be a "acquired taste" model, a model that is not main stream . And I bought it new from an AD. To me it is still "the most beautiful Patek" and whether any other Patek is better in after market value ... 

I have to precise that the 5015R goes with a completely destroyed box and only a certificate of origin, without original date of purchase neither original shop stamp. The 5054J goes with a pretty new PP long box (not the big square wooden box) and an "Ext... 

Like many members of the forum, I would also go for the 5054 due to all the reasons already mentioned but ultimately, if your heart is set of on 5015, do not buy the 5054 because you will always be thinking about the 5015. I am a bit more sentimental with... 

And that is purely based on subjective looks. But why limit to those 2? There are other PPs with both power reserve and moonphase (5712, 5146 for example, and others that are not current like my 5056).

my limits are 1. the availabilities in HK second hand market (I live here as expat), 2. I really don't like Nautilus/Aquanaute models and 3. I LOVE the 5146 and 5056 but they are just twice the price of 5015/5054 !

Then I vote for 5054.

The two pieces you are considering are similar but at the same time, entirely different. If a date is important, then the obvious choice is the 5014. If not, then the 5015 has some features which should also be considered. The 5054 has very clean lines an...

I chose the 5054J ! Despite the small design differences, the overall condition is better and it comes with many accessories (a brand new wooden box, a long travel box, Archives paper). I will post full pictures in the next days to let you see this wonder...

5054 is cool, especially in RG/WG. The other one...I would believe that the spaces between the tiny hobnails would gather dirt quickly. I would polish it every day and curse the (&"%$"$ hobbnails soon.
