Hahahaha!
Well spoken, my friends!
Kari, you make a very good point - and one that actually goes to the heart of my personality. I've always had to fight my inner perfectionist to keep from sitting on the fence and keep the best from being the enemy of the good.
I guess I did manage to find a girl and marry her, but I suppose it's more difficult to find perfection in watches. Or did I simply have more experience having to compromise with women? Hmmm...
So: does this mean I need to just relax a bit and let that 5711 into my life?
Best
E.
I will fly to London
By: dr.kol : June 11th, 2015-13:55
in the morning at 06:20. It's midnight here and I just came home from Helsinki and I'm packing. Still have not decided: should I take my 5153G or my nearly 5712 - I mean 3712. But tomorrow is a Patek day for sure! Best, Kari
A question for me too...

I'm actually leaning towards the simplicity of the 5711, although I'm not a huge fan of the 324SC inside. My difficulty is that all across Asia I find myself going from air-conditioned environments (normal wrist!) to the great outdoors (mega-wrist! They b...

Hi Robin, Well, if Patek did the composite strap for Nautilus in a subtle blue, that might be tempting...but as it is the grey that's available is a bit drab. Couple the non-adjustable bracelet with the 324SC sticking date problem and the scratch-prone be...

He's a great guy. A London City lawyer (although in shipping), 38 years of age, an eager sailor, in perfect fit. Handsome and great character and single . He's also very lonely. But why? He's looking for a "perfect" wife. The successful candidate should l...

You know, I go back and forth on the 5711P. Is that dial a bit too blue? Is the common-or-garden 5711 actually nicer? Would all that platinum just weigh too much? Well, that's what I tell myself when I remember what one would go for (if you can e...
I'm a diver
By: dr.kol : June 13th, 2015-22:14
and the normal amount of weights I use when diving is 2 kilos. A platinum watch like 5711P would solve some 10% of the diving weights. I have seen and handled one. It's not the garden version of 5711 and for sure not too blue. In real the dial is shocking...
There goes my sanity
By: Esharp : June 13th, 2015-23:25
Kari, you are as bad as Vlad! For the sake of my wallet, pllease let me pretend that: 1. The 5711/1a is dangerously flawed and will never really do as it's just Not Good Enough, and 2. The 5711P is FAR too heavy and FAR too blue for me ever even think abo...

Kari, Someone recently posted saying that you are giving Nicolas competition as Vlad. Now I see what they meant. ;-) If you can get a 5711P and a 5711/1A together, I'll make sure I can get from HK to Singapore when you're next there! No doubt the way to g...
I am GOOD!
By: dr.kol : June 14th, 2015-03:29
And being good means that I want to help people. In fact that's the main goal of my life. I have ways and means taking a 5711P with me to Singapore. I will also take my old and trusted (nearly 5 months) 5711/1A plus 3712. Just to compare, I will also take...

I love it! I see that you've been trying all the 3 references so I really won't give my opinion as you've seen the differences (dials, movements, thickness...). An easy adjustable mechanism would indeed be a good improvement on these watches. Would it be ...

This is my personal and thus subjective opinion but this is how I see it. There are the Nautilus and the RO, first, and in a very different category the Overseas. The RO is a little more interesting as a beautiful sculpture. This is Art in the design. But...

Mark, Thank you for a refreshing and interesting analysis. I hadn't thought of the AP and PP as being so different from the VC but I do see what you mean. In my own opinion as well, the PP is rather more elegant than the others. The challenge I face regar...
