Hi, Greatpilot, congrats for going to get the 5231J.
Regarding the popularity of cloisonné enamel WT, I think the reasons include:
1. Rarity. The production volume is limited by the small number of artisans capable of making the dial
2. Every 5131, 5231 is unique, due to individual variation of emamel
3. The aesthetic effect of the dial is truely appealing, with layering of colours. As if your are having a miniature globe on your wrist.
I am sure that you will be delighted by your 5231J

Just kidding. I can only agree with what Fabrizio said. I love my 5231J but, if you have the chance to still get a 5131/1P go for that one, it’s in a different league (also compared to the rest of 5131s), IMO. Best, V.

When it comes to 5131 or 5231 any metals are beautiful. I would focus on the dial if you like the dial and are offered one go for it. 👍
Regarding Fab comments regarding 5077 and 5089 they are in a league on their own. One day maybe 👍
