because a manual winding perpetual is not a very practical watch. Especially if one have more than two watches. Furthermore, the simple chronograph is much more sober. Best, Kari
Patek Philippe Chronographs- We all know how incredibly rare and valuable Patek chronograph's are. Today vintage pieces are revered at auction with some fethching millions of dollars. Here we try to see the vintage inspiration for the modern production. R...
Thank you Imran and Happy New Year to you! My personal favourite among the beauties would be the 5959 and 5950! I just love the ultra slim split second movement and it is quite amazing how they managed to put so much in something so small. Best wishes, Sh...
These vintage Chronos with their sector dial are to die for. At 31 mm, a bit small, but at 36 mm, just perfect. As for modern Chronos, I have a huge affection for the 5070 / 5970, and for the 5004. Now, the 5370 is a marvel. I agree with you when you say ...
Thanks for reminding some of those references. I would just add two remarks in addition: - There were much more than the 130 and 1463 references between 1940 and 1970 (I'm preparing a write up on the same subject that I'll postpone for later since we have...
Thanks for putting this together Imran Really my kind of post Sounds probably strange to most of you but I prefer a simple chrono above a perpetual chrono Saw some great watches in this thread

That makes a total of 1300 pieces equivalent to the 5976 and 75% more than the 5711P. I guess there are fewer 5070\'s produced and try far more air time goes to 5070 & 5170 and seldom in the 5975 mentioned. It also has a very nice movement with a vertical...
There are about 3200 5070 made More or less 1000 per color R/J/G And probably between 150 and 200?? p 5170.... no idea but if you allow me to guess I would say about 500-700 per year. So until now 4000-5000?
Probably 5975 is not discussed that much because the movement is not very special. The dial and the case are something sexy while 5070 is sexy from all parts. Best, Kari
The movement on the 5975 definately isn\'t sexy but it works. A case of functionality over form. I stand corrected but think it\'s not a manual wind which I also prefer....Best Karl
I love my 5975 but let's face the fact: the movements inside the watches are pretty standard and mostly industrially made. No comparison between these two references. Best, Kari
