I guess that Patek Philippe will always be a brand which
arouses much interest, regarding its legacy or its image etc...
This brings unavoidably speculation too. When considering such events as the 175th anniversary, the brand can't do much to protect itself and other collectors who could not purchase such watches in the first place.
As someone who wanted intensely a 5975G, I can only be disapointed to see that some watches fell in the wrong hands but it is impossible to avoid at 100%.
Hence, I can only be glad that Patek Philippe's watches have such success. And it is well deserved.

Sometimes, PP will bid and buy them back, just to know who it is that's reselling. I got that from a PP higher up on a dinner conversation.

Regardless whether the person who had the successful bid was Patek themselves or a private collector: the 175th anniversary marketing piece has delivered. What amazes me is that public production figures of 1.200 can attract such a craze about this piece....
