Patek Philippe

I have my own ideas as to why Patek chose the Aquanaut to include a second time-zone; but I'm curious to see what you all think. Why the Aquanaut and not Nautilus? This message has been edited by pjbaptiste1 on 2011-07-12 16:18:12...  

Is that there are already 2 complicated Nautilii, there's the 5712 with moonphase and RdM and the 5980 chronograph. To my knowledge there were no complications in the Aquanaut line, so it made sense to add one there. A

I think you're right, but I think they also looked at the customer.

Date, GMT and Chronograph are the most current complications. The 5164 just anwers to a specific demand, a travel time on the lowest priced watch in the Patek catalogue. But "a basic complication" compared to the other models... And if they decide to put ...

While it's hard to call any Patek a tool watch the Aquanaut probably comes closest. It also seems that the Nautilus has become more sophisticated with its complications so maybe this is a way of rebalancing the twin lines. I can't see Patek putting this c... 

First reason was given by Aaron. Second reason (for me) was to create a real summer travel watch: the Aquanaut is a more all-around watch than the Nautilus and the second timezone complication can be useful during a summer trip. Fx...  

The rubber strap should be more comfortable in the summer.
