I’ve always wondered….
When the extract says “sold without strap” (and I’ve seen many like this from Patek), did it also originally not come with a buckle as well? Was the buyer expected to buy a buckle separately from PP, or did it come with one, but this was simply not stated in its sales record? Or did PP make a number of styles of buckles available to the buyer, so that made it difficult to write down the accompanying buckle for each sale? Genuinely curious as it makes it hard to determine which specific buckle came with the watch, so perhaps can only approximate what is era correct.

Great find Emmanuel ! The lines look very interesting. I love the tan orange strap ! Perhaps if Patek made a shaped watch with similar lines and it could be the GRAIL for you ?
Thank you, Gordon. Not all 3423 have this dial with “diagonal markers”, which, imo,
work particularly well with a round case. So I'm not sure I would prefer a shaped watch here. Best, Emmanuel
