Most vintage Pateks don't have Certif. of Origins, so it is acceptable not to have it (although if it does, all the better). On newer ones (say within the last 10 or so years), if the owner didn't think enough to keep the COO. how well did he maintain the watch in the first place. There are enough recent pieces around where you could buy with COO, but I would guess for most, they would be interested at like5-10% off.

Important only to the most serious collectors for the high end pieces. If someone wants the watch, they will buy it regardless.
