It is just a matter of taste... While I like the 5170P quite a bit I would not do the trade...
It depends on what you like and what else you have got. Similar to you I got a Nautilus from the AD in 2018 - in my case a 5711 blue. My only other Patek is a platinum Calatrava. The thing is that I'd rather keep one sports Patek and one dress Patek than lose the 5711 for a second dress Patek no matter how desirable the 5170P may be. If the Nautilus was my only Patek I'd still not trade it towards a 5170P as I'd lose a lot in terms of versatility. If anything I'd add a 5170P but so far I managed to convince myself it is just an itch rather than a must have.

You have a better chance getting a 5070G even. Remember what you want for your watch is not always what the dealer will pay.

Believe it or not, I don't wear the 5712 as a daily beater - I use it nearly exclusively with smarter attire... so the 5170P would have the same purpose. Best, Robert

I have the same hesitancy too. 5170P is a great timepiece, no doubt.

IMO you should pull the trigger if you like the 5170P as much or more than the 5712. To me, putting aside the popularity of the 5712, the 5170P is at a different level due to it’s chrono function, platinum case, and the subtle baguette diamond hour marker...
