Believe it or not, I don't wear the 5712 as a daily beater - I use it nearly exclusively with smarter attire... so the 5170P would have the same purpose. Best, Robert

But a stainless steel Patek sport watch (especially 5712 or 5711) is such an iconic reference that you won't want to miss too. Unless 5712 doesn't sing to you anymore, otherwise keep it. For your information, I almost let go my 5712/1A few years ago to fu... 

If the 5170P is calling you, I’d go for it. They are radically different watches but since the value of 5712 has gone up I would take advantage of it. I’m a sucker for a manual Chrono so I am biased of course but I think the 5170P with the blue dial can b... 

It depends on what you like and what else you have got. Similar to you I got a Nautilus from the AD in 2018 - in my case a 5711 blue. My only other Patek is a platinum Calatrava. The thing is that I'd rather keep one sports Patek and one dress Patek than ... 

There is no watch that is a must have - every interest is just an itch. I appreciate your input! I have a sports watch (Rolex 116520 black dial stainless steel), so I thought that the 5170p-001 would be a great dressier option. Best, Robert

IMO you should pull the trigger if you like the 5170P as much or more than the 5712. To me, putting aside the popularity of the 5712, the 5170P is at a different level due to it’s chrono function, platinum case, and the subtle baguette diamond hour marker...

Since you already stated that you have other watches, a Daytona, thr 5170P would not be your only watch which makes more sense. If thr 5170P would be your only watch, then the 5712/1A would probably be a better choice. In the end, it is your decision but ...
