I can only give you my opinion…
The case front side seems to be in normal condition, obviously polished more than once but not a no-go for the lugs are not thin as toothpicks; but surprisingly the hallmarks on the back side of the lugs are extremely deep and sharp as if never polished… I can’t say it’s wrong but it is inconsistent imo…
As for the dial I fully share your opinion that this grey color of the subdial is VERY unusual. Actually I never ever saw one like this before (which doesn’t mean it’s not correct but I would have a doubt). Also the printing of the date is very bold compared to all other ones I saw (just have a look on C24, none of them have such a bold font).
To sum up I can’t be positive to say it’s wrong but if I were in your shoes I wouldn’t take the risk and would simply pass on this one. I absolutely LOVE this reference as you can imagine since I have a first series example but take the time to find the right one. I’m sure you know the say from de Niro in the film Ronin: « When there is a doubt, there is no doubt: don’t do it » 😉

It’s very hard to find a good example on an early series that’s complete for less than 80-90k USD these days. Whether they are moving is a different story.

Thanks, how would you check the dial? I checked on forums and I think that for being a 2005 3rd series, it has all the required features (San serif,Swiss aligned)

A typical problem with many 3940 subdials. Those without the problem have a higher value - and will most likely be more desirable in the future as well.
