Patek Philippe

Jaah...

First of all, thank you for asking.

I would eliminate first 5711P. A sport watch with platinum strap and case? No thanks. A watch with a simple mass produced movement. No thanks. The price is too high, the watch is too heavy and a sports watch is made of steel, that's my perspective.

So two left.

I have 5131G

This watch is rare if you want that and it is beautiful. A close look at the dial shows how special the dial really is.

The movement is nice but to honest, nothing special. If you buy this watch from a Grey Dealer, you end up paying something like $ 50,000. I would not pay that kind of money for a special dial!

But if you can get the watch @ retail, the issue is different.

Patek 5070P has a beautifully made movement, fantastic dial and it is rare (if you want that).

In case I should pay a stupid premium for 5131G, I would not take it. I would love to have 5070P but because I'm not willing to pay a stupid price, so I'll live without it.

So my advice:

Buy 5131G if you can get it with retail.

You should choose between a fantastic movement & great dial (5070P) and the hand made enamel movement.

It's a matter of taste. Do you want a rare watch with a great movement, go for 5070P. If you want a watch that is like a piece of jewelry, get 5131G.

In case I could choose either or with the same amount of money, I would throw the coin.

Best, Kari
