37 mm it is a good size after all

all the complications in a relatively small case. They remind me of a delicious mini "hamburger" ! I have seen the 3970 in the metal and is impressive. Enjoy yours often ! Cheers, Gordon

This is a third series and I thought all third series came with solid back and see through back regardless of metal. I'm surprised to hear that the platinum one you believe did not come with the see-through back. Where did you hear that? Also I love my 39... 

As you noticed the title of the post was saying “something around 37 mm” because the actual case size is 36.7 mm. I don’t want to stumble anybody so now I just changed the title to read “something around 36 mm”. As far as the misunderstanding on the serie... 

I didn't realize that there was not a 3970p until the third series of 3970s - that is very interesting! And that it only came with solid back - also quite interesting. I learn something new every day on these forums! It's a truly lovely piece, congrats! A...

I have my eye on a 3970G. I think the watch fits you perfectly. I am trying to estimate how a 36 mm watch it would look on my wrist which measures 16.8cm or 6 5/8 inches. Thanks CB

This is an excerpt from a Patek manual from the period. Also, what is different and exceptionally appealing is that early 3rd series P have blue/yellow moon phase, rather than later black/silver. Beautiful image of a beautiful watch. Thanks for posting. ...

I have the black dial in white gold -- wanted a Pt one, but so hard to find without diamonds! Wear it with joy and in good health.

I never had a chance to see a G or P in the metal but only colored metal versions (I used to own a J and could try the R from a friend). That 3970 in P must really be someting, definitely a piece for a connoisseur, huge congrats ! Understated like a typic...

The nickname "burger" is matching pretty well indeed. I recently had the chance to try on the "double burger" 5004 of a friend. Both models have a similar charm to them. Compared to my larger 5270 the smaller size of the 3970 makes the look more dense and... 

I have a 5004R and a 5270G first series as well and I have to say that both of them for different reasons are well proportioned and very charming PC Chronographs. Best G.
