My God Imran how I've missed you.

 

Firstly I’d like to say thank Heavens you and all your family are now fit and well and beat what looks like Covid.
Secondly before we talk watches I would like to thank you personally and on behalf of all UK citizens for your incredible commitment, devotion and relentless hard work within the NHS over the last 18 months. We should all be so proud of our health workers in every corner of the earth 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Onto the post. Well again Imran I would like to thank you for yet another incredibly well articulated in-depth look at the 5196p. I love how in this hobby we never stop learning and discovering new things about these remarkable timepieces. Thank you for the time it has taken you to put this together and its educational value is priceless.
Every post you make like this it somehow makes me fall in love with the watch and the history all over again. Your passion is contagious and uplifting and your knowledge is deep.
I love the 5196p for all the reasons you have pointed out and although I have not had mine for very long it is locked away I am going to go and put it on now for the weekend.
So thank you my friend for making me feel all warm inside this gloomy UK Friday afternoon and I hope you have a great weekend.

It was a surreal time, our hospital segregated into different work zones and plastic sheeting isolating hallways, etc. I always liked the 5196p, for me the seconds hand is a little too high and would prefer no numerals in the subdial. Just let those Bregu...

My department did okay but we had some docs in the hospital die from complications. I think this is why watches, cars, houses are in such high demand. People realize life is short want to spend some. Also market returning 40%+ is a bonus. Hopefully these ...

of this reference are perfect, smaller dimensions but wider lug width makes it wear larger than it implies. Lets hope an updated version doesn’t get the same treatment as 6119 which totally neglects those with slimmer wrists…..

I saw a 5196P in the metal for the first time in February 2020, also just before the pandemic hit. The dial is just spectacular, and on impulse I traded my existing Calatrava (a 5107P) for it on the spot. I loved photographing the watch, but I didn't love...

Thanks for sharing a great 5196 review Imran, indeed a terrific watch of which you perfectly described its historical significance, and that I'm glad is finally recognized by collectors today! ;-)

Logically, because this reference has a solid case back it doesn’t really matter if the movement case ratio is not optimal. Regarding the sub dial sitting higher and not sandwiched between the 5 and 7, I personally think it is fine. At least there is no d...
