Overview of the Patek Philippe World Time Chronographs
Two weeks ago, amanico announced us that he is "currently writing something about the 5930s / 5935" and we are all very much looking forward to reading his thoughts when they're finalized.
In the meantime, here's an illustrated overview of the different variants of Patek Philippe's World Time Chronographs.

A/ THE SOURCE OF INSPIRATION
35 mm yellow gold case with teardrop lugs.
Revolving reeded bezel bearing the names of 33 towns in the world, outer pulsometric graduation for 15 pulsations and inner asmometric graduation for 5 respirations.
Breguet numerals and "fancy" hands filled with radium. Manual wind 23 jewels 13 lignes movement.
This watch was sold by Antiquorum in 1994 and is now part of the Patek Philippe Museum as inv. P-996.

Introduced at BaselWorld 2016.
39.5 x 12.86 mm white gold case. Calibre CH 28-520 HU
24 city-ring and 30-minute totalizer at 6 o'clock.

Limited edition of 300 pieces created in honor of the Patek Philippe Watch Art Grand Exhibition Singapore 2019 . It features a red dial that graduates towards black.

D/ THE "YELLOW" BANGKOK KING POWER EDITION, REF. 5930G-?
Special Order made for the late Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, successful Thai businessman and top Patek collector (who had already requested the production of ref. 5960/1A-011 to commemorate the win of the UK Premier League Championship in 2015 by his football team “Leicester City” and the Aquanaut Leceister City Football Club Edition, ref. 5067A-026).
Model made in 2019 this time to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Mr Vichai’s group “King Power”.
Based on the other commemorative “King Power” limited edition series made by Chopard, it is believed that 3 dozens were produced.

You are right, it isn't a 1415 HU, but it is very often presented as such on the internet...
Anyway, it's my favorite of all, by far!

I much prefer this one – it’s more romantic, it has more charm and warmth. The new Pateks feel rather dull to me, too clinical ... they leave me cold. The one with the salmon dial looks better ... But still ... ...

Among the PP ones, my favorite is the vintage one, by far. Like you, I find the recent versions to clinical and sporty and modern. On the other hand, unlike you, I don’t respond at all to the steel one: I prefer the 5930s. The carbon fiber motif “kills” i...

the steel one, is it even guilloché done by hand or is it a cheap stamped dial like they use for some of their Calatrava's ?

But let's be serious .... Then you're basically deceiving your customers, or you're just assuming they're dumb and will accept anything as long as there's a 'famous' name on the dial. And honestly, that's a disgrace. Maybe you've built and earned that nam...

The more informed and educated customers will be, the less they will accept these shortcuts.
I really love the design of these models.
And as you’re super comprehensive in your review. But I have two issues with this complication - I can’t see the time and especially the world time and it’s off by an hour six months of the year …
True, Gary, the WT complication isn't fully "functional" all year long.
But it's also a "poetic" complication for me. That said, I'm not fond of these models with an additional chrono complication. Except for the very first vintage piece, which appeals to me very much. Best, Emmanuel

I completely agree with you concerning the white seconds ring.
One thing I noticed is that the Pt version has a white city ring which doesn’t match the gorgeous guilloche center and it makes it less easy to read in my opinion. I much prefer when the city ring matches the guilloche center one being separated from the ...
