Patek Philippe

Patek Denying Warranty? (and answer in the end)

It appears NYC Patek is denying warranty to owners of timepieces if they are not the original owner. Thus if you buy a Patek from an AD and then sell it, there is now zero warranty. The basic two year warranty does not transfer in the USA. Am curious why Patek does not have the guarantee follow the watch like Rolex does with their five year warranty. Great news is that this should bring good discounts for used buyers and some sealed watches too. Let the discounts be your guide as service cost and wait period is quite an undertaking.

Europe may be different due to laws forcing Patek to do the right thing and adhere to a two year warranty regardless of owner.

UPDATE from Mark, Patek moderator: the conclusion post (link here below) was updated with the answer I received (so has PJS) from Patek Philippe headquarters Customer Services about the warranty:

- The Patek Philippe warranty concerns the watch and not the owner.

- The watch is then covered by the warranty during the 24 months from the first purchase's date (indicated on the Certificate of Ownership), no matter if the watch was sold afterwards (even several times) within these 24 months.

- However, if the Certificate of Ownership is modified or impaired, then the warranty can be refused.

Here is the link to the conlusion post, confirming the warranty is linked to the watch, worlwide http://www.watchprosite.com/?page=wf.forumpost&fi=11&ti=1108493&pi=8333738&pzt=1485383211&wf.responses_bLoB_s=&s=-77
