Friends, Following the report I wrote after Baselworld 2015, about the two first generations of the 5270G reference, I think it is high time to introduce and have a close look at the latest iteration of the reference: the new 2015 Patek Philippe 5270G and...

As I said in some other articles, the Chrono-QP is iconic for Patek Philippe: they were the first to choose that complications combination in a wriswatch with the 1518. It always had a special place in the colelction and I must say this is also something ...

You can easily take a look on what kind of documents are still available. Unfortunately, it seems that the last "official" contribution from Ron DeCorte is dated April 2013. I suppose now he's focused on his own watchmaker's job in Ohio. Ciao, Elio

the former 5270 "belly" version was on my radar for some time, till it got interupted by the unexpected arrival of the 5070P somewhere earlier this year, in the mean time I truly forgot that there was a new version, and if it wasn't for this post I would ...

The Opalin silver is a true silvery dial (light grey with a blue hue). The rose gold case brings then more warmth and makes the overall watch harmonious. I couldn't have them side by side but the 5496R's dial color looked the same to me. Thanks Fricks! Ch... 

is the pricing: I like a perpetual calendar with an automatic movement and I am a big fan of 240Q. At the same time, the chronograph part of 5270 is the same as the movement of 5170. Now, if you check the pricing of 5170G and add the automatic QP 5140G, y... 

First, placing 2 complications in a single case is more difficult than to have them separetely in two different watches. The more you add complications in a single watch, the more difficult it is to make them work together. So a QP+Chrono is more difficul... 

if Patek would introduce i.e. 5270P with black enamel dial... Anyhow, I feel that the manufacturer is a bit too ambigious with the pricing of 5270 and that probably explains why it is not a hot item. Best Kari

To be honest, I guess I'm getting the watch not too late - probably before Xmas. I am a relatively good client of my Patek AD and I would imagine that when I order something, they will try to serve me in the best possible way and as fast as possible. Righ...

I ordered only one as Patek will surely change the dial in case I will feel later that I made a mistake. Because of the more understated calendar data, I ordered black. The other reason is that I have so many blue dial Patek, that I could open a shop spec... 

Change the dial??!!!! Is that even possible or is it just a VIP service. I like the black as well and appreciate the black background on the calendar,I don't think you can mix the word mistake with either. Have a nice weekend . Best, Ahmed

when I had just two Patek, I asked for a dial change to the other. London Salons said that they do not do such things without good reasons, Geneva just changed it after I asked to do the same when the watch was serviced. The new dial was also surprisingly...

I love my 5970P more I do feel given the small numbers (I\'m guessing) the 5270 with the so called "chin" will become collectible - particularly if numbers of the 5270 remain small overall...it\'s just the sort of thing to pull a surprise at an auction on...  

I will not buy the "chin" because of the speculative future value. If the life will go as planned, it's only my "Next Generation" who needs to think about the values. Furthermore, I think that the chin is spoiling the balance of the dial. Your 5970P is gr... 

Matte then glossy - I agree 5270P with a gloss black dial will be quite remarkable

It seems in recent years there have been a lot of releases with black dials 5170G, 5370G, 5271P just last year, 5396G Tiffany before - in order to keep black dials on complications special I hope that there won\'t be any more for a while...

what kind of colour the dials should be then? White, silver, blue...? Isn't it best to have a well-balanced amount of all colours? Best, Kari

I was on the verge to think that way too but when I thought about it, these watches (High-end) are very rarely seen in the wild. It's the least we can say. So, black and blue dials will be even rarer. Thus, the only place where we seem to think they are l... 

The sport watches of Rolex have mostly black dials but nobody seems to mind. Best, Kari

I love the new rose version. However, the blue dialed G model is out of this world too and more suitable for every day wear.

looks the best to me. I am leaning towards the blue dial. The r just doesn't it for me in this reference.

The good thing is that it is more a matter of taste and in which occasions we are willing to wear it that counts as they are all 3 very appealing versions. I love R but still don't know if I wouldn't go for G silver if I was to purchase one though. Cheers... 

I think the blue dial is a bit faddish for a watch of this complexity. The white gold dial doesn't have the contrast of the rose dial to me.

This is a major acquisition and as you imagine we'll love to see your first owner pics when you get it. I also preferred the R version for its warmth. Less discreet but so appealing. Congratulations! Cheers, Mark

I don't know which I would pick between yours and the R. I'll have another look at them when I can. I would be very surprised if we didn't see a 5905R one day. It would look good indeed when we see at how the 5205R white dial looks like. We need time to t... 

The RG is my favorite watch in the current PP offerings.

... and also highlighting the important improvements Patek has made. Overall very educational and informative. Of course the 5270 is a grail for most of us and seems to have 'replaced' the iconic 5970 somewhat. Looks to me like another icon in the making....

the older versions have angled teeth to mesh better but will wear out quickly with continued use. This was in the instruction books delivered with all the 3970 and 5970 models. The new movement completely eliminates this problem. Nice to have something yo...
