Personally speaking, I did overreact. I would not buy one, as I have only 1 Patek, and for the money I would rather buy 2 more pieces for my collection.
However, I am not Pateks target buyer for these watches. If I had many Pateks already and wanted to own something special, different and collectible I might go for it. I am not fond of the date marking, or diamonds, but as a one off piece in a large collection I could probably live with it.
I would not like these watches though to be an indication of Pateks future direction though, and I think Patek should have thought more carefully about the existing owners of the 5711/1p.
Good luck with your application I am sure you will be thrilled with the watch if you are lucky enough to get one.

In the past the collectors knew what made each piece special
now Patek makes it "fool prove" for the "collector" by writing what is special about this piece in letters on the dial? Lucky it is far out of my reach, this labelled special piece. Best Moritz

Whilst many will be underwhelmed I get the wait for 50. The platinum is a nice piece and well the blue looks good on any Nautilus however I\'m not personally a fan of the "40" text. I find the size reference intriguing and wonder how the Chrono stacks up ...
