Saw the RG/brown dial yesterday
Thanks for the great report Imran, very complete and great pictures.
I saw the Twenty-4 RG/brown dial watch is person yesterday, IMHO it is a little better in person than the pictures. The bracelet is substantial and fairly heavy, personally I like the way the diamonds are set on the bezel with the slight offset to the braclett. The brown dial is very nice but a little boring, don’t care for the date. My wife (sent her pictures) wasn’t impressed and thought it was yellow gold, it looks like 4N RG and maybe 5N would had given it a richer look and better contrast to the brown dial? It is defiantly a dressy/casual watch and I believe the video is a good exhample of how it could be worn n the real world by most women. The price for the new 24 (with automatic movement) in RG is only about $3K more than the quartz so from that perspective it might be an attractive value proposition. Funny, the SS version is priced just under the 5711/01A, not sure what that tells us but if the Twenty-4 is readily available it might be a good seller (in SS) because of the Patek name? I have been on the lookout for the perfect RG braclett for my wife, I have looked at Rolex and Bulgari Octo Finissimo among others, the 36mm Rolex with a diamond bezel/dial and Bulls Eye dial (picture below) is the same price (but yellow gold) so is close competition. The Bulgari (much bigger at 40mm but the wife wears my watches all the time)) has a remarkably thin movement and way different look, no diamonds
(picture below from Google) for the same retail and those sell at big discounts. Each to their own and I don’t know which way I will go but as with other new explorations by Patek the market will tell us if the new Twenty-4 is a hit...Jim
