I had the 5980 some years ago - and like everybody, I deeply regret selling it 
- but today it is very hard to decide for me, which Nautilus is the real King !!!!

I used to have a 5712/A as well...
But felt like overkill as 5980/1A was always winning the wristbattle...
It’s a nice watch...
...but doesn’t merit the hype. The subdial and date implementation are both inelegant. As an investment I’d be very happy if I bought one five years ago. Buying one today might be risky...but if you love it?

I also wish I still had my 5980.
But I now have the 5990 and much prefer it. Having both would have been perfect though.
This is the true king or perhaps emperor! Only positive remarks from me.
All the other nautilusses should bow for King 5980! 😉😄😄
I passed on it because I had just bought my 5712 and I was a true 1 watch man at that time 😜
Btw, did you buy the 5960P instead of the 5980?
I also fell in love with the 5960P when it was launched, but way out of my reach then
I remember I was starting to flirt with AP then... memories...
celestial would fit well in your box
don't think the movement should be the breaking factor... 240 is a solid workhorse... even though I do think a watch like the celestial perhaps would be better suited with a pretty manual movement...
