I really have a passion for these old world sceneries like the wood marquetery sailboat piece. But while the school of fish watch is still my favorite (given the vibrant blue color) it is really hard to pic a favorite. May I ask after how many watches and (if possible) which refs you started getting allocated pieces from the rare handcrafts collection ? Talking to my AD and my humble beginnings just last year with Patek it seems like it's a very long journey to get there.
Not traveling anywhere for a while but with this watch on my wrist, almost feels like I am traveling the World.
Is there one watch which makes you happy not matter what else is going on and no matter where you are? Best, Patekova ...

Mike, thank you for your very kind words. A lot of people are put off by the engraved bezel, the fact that “Patek” is not on the dial
and the unusual font. I actually like all these factors as it makes the 5131 series different from the normal Patek qualities. Of course, the 5231 abandoned this “uniqueness” and went back to the traditional ways.

5131G and P were done by AP and team.
They are not involved in the 5231 series as of now. 5131J was done by a mother and son team. 5131R and 5231J are likely down by the same people because the enamel dials look the same. Are you looking to get some ? 😃
Yes, it's one of my dream pieces. Have to work myself up to this level. I just looked at the 5131G yesterday again in the pre-owned section of my AD
it was very tough to put it back even though I definitely would get the J version and thanks for the info - where can I find more infos on who did them? I assume it's not noted on the certificate of the watch who painted the dial right ?
Certificate does not state the enameler.
Try goggling 5131 and 5231 enamel dials to see if you could get more information. Good luck and keep us updated.

+1! This is Ref. 5177G-023, that we announced in 2021 along with my "School of Fish," and that was allocated to V., one of the distinguished collectors of this forum.
The whole 5177 line (a new Calatrava with a hobnail bezel) is especially dear to me, and I cannot believe it's been in production for already five years! (It was introduced in 2018, and so far has only been used for some very special, out-of-catalog Rare ...
At first I thought the ref 5177 is based on the 6119 but it's a different
size and movement - I also enjoy the clous de paris pattern on the bezel - works wonderful with the enamel dials.
The two references are in a sense related, and in a very significant way -- this is an excellent point! Hobnail bezels are firmly rooted in the history and tradition of the Calatrava line, which is a big reason why I love them on my Rare Handcrafts...
Instances of a hobnail bezel on Calatrava references go as far back as year 1934 (!), with Ref. 96 D....this was only a couple years after a certain visionary Genevan family, now at its fourth generation, assumed the leadership of the Brand! Arguably, hob...
Wood marquetry is indeed in a category of its own, due both to the incredible technical ability required and its *exceedingly* rare production... Suffice it to say that only one artist (J. B.) is authorized to produce these dials for Patek! ;-)

As collectors no one watch will ever make us happy. Many watches make me happy for different reasons in different environments. That said I completely understand how your beautiful WT makes you feel happy and warm inside with many memories of happy travel...
