I really like Patek watches, in fact I really love some of the Patek watches, which I know that I will never be able to afford. Such as the 5004, 5970, and all of the minute repeaters. I have respect for the people who designed these watches and respect for those who are able to buy and enjoy them. That has nothing to do with marketing and all to do with quality. I tip my hat to you for your excellent taste and selection of your watches. I tip my hat to anyone who proudly wears their passion on their wrists - no matter what the watch is. Find out what makes you happy and go for it.
I think the 5131J with the enamel dial is outstanding, It is on my list of watches which I would really love to own.
It is certainly possible to be critical of a company and still love their watches.
Through my posts here, I have learned that there are many, many, many more Purists whose love for their Patek watches far exceeds other people's love for turning over the watch for profit only.
I have also learned that Patek may not be bidding on watches to keep the price levels high. I was told that they do bid on very, very rare pieces to place in their museum.
What I did not appreciate were the personal attacks and anger directed at me for merely expressing my opinion, which differs from other people's opinions.
But I do appreciate those posts which did support my right to give my opinion - even though it did differ from their own.

I fully agree with you! I am a PP lover but it does not offend me at all if somebody has a different opinion. Sometimes I also wonder about some facts, e.g. that a watch with a (highly finished) "contract movement" reaches so much appreciation...
