That hurt!
I feel a little bit offended by your message. That is because at 32, I had 45 employees, 26 mil euro turnover, no kids and worked nearly 14 hours a day. Was an entry level PP an act of conspicuous consumption? I don't know. It joined my Blancpain Fifty Fathoms GMT, a Lange up and down, a Daniel Jeanrichard, and a Zenith New Vintage 1965.
You would probably be surprised that a friend of mine, a successful IT entrepreneur bought a Lambo Murcielago at 26. I would never spend this kind of money on a car but a would not dare to call that "conspicuous consumption", also.
One more thing: if you want to make an impression at 32, you buy a Submariner for less than half of the money you pay for a 5711 A. "Wow factor" is guaranteed. ;-)
PS. Now, at 38, I have less employees, lower turnover, one kid and work 8 hours a day at most. One the other hand, I have 3 PPs and can justify them all.
Best,
R
