No after market purchases ... and although I'm very happy there was no dream to come true. Hahaha ... I wish I had that kind of foresight? To be honest, I never had any plan to have all four ... just purchased each piece based on its individual beauty/cha...

Not because of the metal ... but because the dial is the best of the four. The 5131/1P-001 is pretty heavy ... but not too heavy ... but heavy enough that I would not consider it an everyday watch. One definitely knows it's on the wrist!

The enamel lover in me can just stare at that photo and dream all day & night ! Since you mentioned earlier that you got some pieces from the secondary market, I would love to hear your journey on which metal you selected first and how that first one ... 

I don't have a problem with the secondary market, ... I just prefer to purchase watches NEW from an AD. I wish I could elaborate a great journey in assembling my collection of 5131's, but it was simply having patience and applying for each reference when ...

First of all, congratulation on the collection. May I ask a question about the 5131J. It seems there is a white cap shown in the north pole area of the dial in the J. I have never seen this before as this was feature of the R and possibly G ( I don't have... 

For many years my favorite metals were Platinum and White Gold. As a result, I actually purchased my "J" AFTER the "G" ... and the "J" actually started my collection of many other Yellow and Rose Gold references. Hahaha ... having the "G" and seeing the "...

You can be allocated a P even if you have the other 5131 models.

Due to a lack of punctuation, it can be read either way. Not so sure if bought from AD or gray.

Sorry about any confusion. I don't purchase watches from the Secondary or Gray Market. In all four cases an application was submitted on my behalf by the AD and we waited patiently for delivery.

You know what it is, many members are trying to get some of these pieces and such info is always "interesting"! I'm glad you have this relationship with your AD and that you could gather and wear them all. That's the right place for them instead of a safe... 

... watches are meant to be worn ... but I'm thinking that most all of us Patek enthusiasts put our timepieces into some sort of a safe when they're not on the wrist. Lol

I've been placed on the wait list at the AD since the first 5131G and J were released....have not received any allocation for this ref as of 2008...almost 10 years! You must have an impressive collection for Patek to release ALL four watches to you...Cong... 

... but I think loyalty on the buyers part for both Patek Philippe and the AD is helpful in realizing application pieces. Also, ... I'm not sure if this makes a difference or not, but I only purchase new from my AD, and I've never re-sold a watch?

.....i suspect that each collector has his own personal relationship with an AD and with Patek. Each personal relationship will be different and how it unfolds in terms of allocation will be relatively unique. To be fair, each of these personal relationsh...

More importantly, ... I don't think what I assume is jonrus' suggestion would be very helpful? I don't have any special knowledge, but if the roles were reversed and I was the AD I'm quite certain I would not respond to pressure/guilt. In my specific case...

When I applied for the 5131R I ordered a Burgundy strap for it. This strap modification helps further differentiate the 5131R from the 5131J. The Rose Gold Case and Burgundy Strap also pairs quite well with a Cordovan Shoe/Blue Suit combination. I see you... 

I do not know how much I like the P before I owned it. The heft of 5131/1P makes me feel like a man. I tried to take 5131/1P off from my wrist, but I put it on my wrist again after I tried different model of watches. Two 5131/1P on the wrist is too heavy ...

Try to put 5131/1P on your wrist for a week or a month. Then you can real feel how much you will like the watch.

I'm really not a World Time or Cloisonné collector. I just happened to find the 4 dials depicting parts of the globe paired with Patek's World Time complication a combination that makes sense at the same time as being very attractive. I think if they made... 

What's the secret to buying just one of these through an authorized channel? They are gorgeous. I've had no luck!

I would think comprehensively supporting the Patek brand and having loyalty to your AD is a good start. Also, I suspect that reselling an application piece (to anyone other your AD for the purposes of trading up) is probably not looked upon favorably?

My suspicion is that with these watches selling at sometimes double retail price, some dealers are giving at least some of their allocations to shills who then cooperate with selling the watch on the grey market. It's hard for Patek to come down on dealer...

I am assuming it is less likely that a customer who spent enough on Pateks with an AD to garner a 5131, and to wait for it to be delivered, to sell it to a grey market dealer than the dealer itself to succumb to the temptation of the profit flip. There ar... 

There are listings on eBay and elsewhere but it's hard to see exactly how many individual 5131's are out there for grey market purchase.

I just noticed you changed out the strap on the R watch, and I like your choice. Is that a Patek band? Is there a reference number for it?
