The main dial is not matte, would say “flat” like paint but not dull…however, the 2 sub dials does shine a bit with radial sheen if I change angles….hope this helps.

Patek did so many things right with the 5172. The numerals are fresh - syringe hands is cool - that case design is outstanding, not just the lugs but also the caseband - the movement is a looker - tasti tondi pushers. The list goes on.

I have the blue and - while the blue is a lightly grained matte - when the light hits the dial right it takes on a beautiful almost liquid sheen. Is that the same with the salmon?

This Dato! The Patek is quite cool, but on the backside, the Dato is the killer. Good to own both of them, clearly!
