There are no wrong questions but just
missing answers.
But seriously: I have a very strong feeling, also based on some facts, that the waiting times in general are getting shorter and shorter... Many nice Pateks are staying unsold with the second hand shops and the Patek AD are having much more watches in their inventory than earlier.
If I would have the guts, I would say that at the same time when the production has grown, the demand has decreased. Why? When I get some time and a lot of inspiration, I will write a post and try to illustrate how nuts the world has gone. But I can give you an example:
I just got a brand new Mini Cooper for my wife as a toy. The car has i.e.:
- Cooper engine of 1.6 liters and 122 hp
- panorama roof
- leather seats
- seat heating
- Xenon lights
- automatic gear box + manual
- spors seats
- sports steering wheel
- better stereos
- Mini's navigation and communication package
- heated seat
- heated windscreen
- cruise control
- driving computer
- Michelin tires in aluminum wheels
- Nokian winter tires in aluminum wheels
and God only knows what else.
This car was costing 600 euros more than a Patek Philippe Aquanaut 5167/1. At the same time if I would like to get the Aquanaut with also a rubber strap, I could have bought with the same money the same Mini plus tank full of gasoline plus paid the first service plus three years insurance.
With the price of 5711 Nautilus, I could have bought a brand new BMW 1-series or Audi A3.
I like watches more than cars but it is understandable that we have reached a price level where many of us start to wonder. At least I do...
Best possible waiting time for you. Normally it does not take more than pregnancy - some 9 months.
Best, Kari
