This was mentioned on a watchtime magazine article from June 2011 but for Vacheron
it is interesting to see that Patek had the same issue with the change over of timezones.
How is this possible ?
Dear fellow enthusiasts: Recently russell996 posted 2 Patek 5131 images side by side, which i attach to my post. One of them had Moscow at +3 GMT which is correct. (LEFT) The other one had Moscow at +4 GMT which is wrong. (RIGHT) How can this be possible ...

So Refs produced before and after that October 2014 cut-off have different GMT+ alignments?
Correct.
It was set to UTC+3 permanently on 26 October 2014. Before that date it was set to UTC+4

This is always an inherent problem with WT's
While I love the aesthetics, and the history, this is always going to be a fatal flaw beyond anyone's control. Then there's also the problem of countries that do and don't observe DST that makes the WT inherently inaccurate for a good portion of the year....
Agreed. Always an issue, so I view every WT watch as more of a romantic piece of interest than a technical piece.
Ultimately, they will all be wrong as countries adjust their time zones.

Dial seems out of balance. I my opinion Patek should abbreviate Buenos Aires and Sao Paulo to give the dial more balance.
Maybe while they are at it update the Australian timezones. Then that would be perfection. Till the next time zone change occurs.

2013 disc change
PP overhauled all of their World Time zone discs indicating new locations, a change that took effect to all World Time watches starting from 2013 (La Paz replaced Caracas, Riyadh replaced Moscow, and Moscow replaced Dubai).
Time for an upgrade...
Perhaps they make the service dials with the new arrangement ? After all, it's the outer ring only, not affecting the inner artwork. Cazalea
