New visitor to the forum here and looks like there is a lot of experts that can help me make the right decision... I currently have 5036 Annual Calendar that I do not seem to wear anymore - for some reason ( getting older perhaps ?) I'm not a fan of a gol...  

white gold for regular / casual wear; rose gold (especially the black dial) for more formal wear. Good luck with your search.

Patek worldtimes are great to wear. The 5131g j with cloiusone dial are hard to make and i believe they will hold there value. And appreciate over time. But i agree with nico 5110 5130 Patek worldtimes are also good alternatives , and characterize the bra...  

You have obviously studied PP offerings quite well. All three alternatives you mention, are fantastic watches and represent Patek DNA well. When speaking about the perpetual, 5140P with blue dial is really a fantastic watch and possibly only 5550P can bea... 

Thank you so much - I love love 5905! Choice between dials will be an interesting battle for sure - I think initially I was concerned about thickness of the watch as I wanted something to be worn comfortably with a suit. Decisions, decisions.

The thickness of this watch is 13.55 mm while 5905 is 14.03 mm. At the same time the latter is 1.5 mm larger. Seriously: how much less than 0.5 mm in thickness means? I do not feel any difference of thickness when I'm changing from my 5960 to my 5905. Bes... 

Kari, thank you so much for your feedback and assistance, it totally makes sense. You mentioned 5140p in blue dial - I know you have one or several with that color, do you think it withstand the changing times as I know its a popular color choice of dial ... 

I took 5905 in black because in my opinion there are too many blue dials around. I'm afraid that in 10-20 years these blue ones look like "2015-2016 Blue Boom". I like a lot 5140P with black dial but I'm not a fan of the diamonds. But all of this - is sim... 

and especially on our Patek forum. This is a nice project with a very interesting budget. I think that the Patek cases are all comfortable, thanks to the lugs and caseback design. No real problem on that level, except if platinum watches are too heavy for... 

Mark, thank you so much for your advise in selection and also in aesthetics /fashion use as well. You are "responsible" for adding 5205R to the list, especially since its much more affordable then other considerations. Initially I focused on platinum case... 

material PP watches are made is platinum... That's about collect ability... The most expensive material is platinum... But platinum is having a very special shine and it feels good. Best, Kari

steel represents 20% of their production. I bet that golds together represent totally over 60% and platinum less than 20%. I'll try to check. Best, Kari

Kari has a good point. In the meantime, what will be the new modern in 10 years for instance? Difficult to know. Take your time to "digest" all these possibilities and I think you will then be able to make the right choice. Cheers, Mark

Without my 5960A, I would probably decided for 5960P, black dial. However, the pushers of 5905 are much nicer and the chronometer is more readable. Best, Kari

if I were to pick one of them as a partner for life, I'd go for the 5960 due its history and complications, even though it came with a hefty price tag. The 60 minute-counter is more readable on 5905 because it doesn't offer a 12 hour-counter and it's also... 

My one go to Patek is the 5960P with the anthracite dial. This is a piece that suits my lifestyle and aesthetic taste more than any other time piece I have encountered. The 016 is so phenomenally beautiful that I hope I never run into the unfortunate oppo...

Ok as much as value is an abstract and to avoid topic here I have to agree on that point as the 5905P is considerably more affordable... Ouch, mind starting to drift... !

in UK is a bit over £ 6,800. That's around € 9.5k. The price difference is remarkable but it wasn't the reason for my choices. Best, Kari

Have you considered a 5054p? While it is fairly different in style from the models you mentioned, it is certainly formal and bound to be a good investment due to the style being discontinued without a replacement. ...

Thanks everyone again!!! I'm narrowing down to the final two. Although not exactly in the same price range, but strangely based on a combination of looks and an overall emotional attachment. 5205 R black dial and 5960p 016. Advise? Would extra $ be worth ... 

Nobody can really guess about the value and we avoid discussing this very subjective and random topic as nobody has the answer. Take the one that will fit your daily activities, and your tastes. You want something that will remain less subject to fads and... 

5960p is now out of consideration due to availability and how much I can spend unfortunately. There is 30,000 difference between 5205 and 5905 black dial. I guess its down to those options today. This making my head hurt.

complicated sibling to 5905. Same basic DNA but 5905 has more functions. IMO, it comes down to whether you need the chrono function and if it is worth the 30,000, value retention aside. Good luck and send photos !

if we only look at the functions. Both of them offers an annual calendar, while the 5905 borrows some of the aesthetics from the 5205. The latter offers a moon phase and 24-hour indication, while the former offers a chronograph and day/night indication. A...
