Thoughts on my first PP (5296G) plus some advise please

 

Hello All, this is my first posting. After many years and many Rolexes I have bought my first 'Gentleman's Watch'?!?! I have to say that PP never seemed to 'jump out' of the AD's window at me - unlike the more immediate eye candy of a Rolex!? but I am learning that the pleasure of PP ownership is all on the wrist. The watch just feels lovely and is the only watch I would want to wear on a leather strap. The sector dial is just lovely.

I have 2 questions though: -

1) Having been used to SS watches does anyone have any advice on polishing the inevitable dings and scratches I will pick up on my WG case (especially in view of the Rhodium plating) - are Cape Cod polishing cloths etc. adviseable?

2) I am not 100% sure I like the blue strap and am thinking of swapping. Does anyone have pictures of the watch on other straps? How do other owners feel on this point?

Just be very, very careful. Actually, for me, I wouldn't want to try my hand at polishing. I'd rather take it back and have it serviced for that. one thing about white gold, and anyone can jump in with corrections, the white gold is rhodium plated. Theref...

I would not polish the watch myself with anything stronger than microfiber cloth. Your watch is (most likely) plated. Original strap is intended to compliment the hands; hard to find better

Thanks for the advise on not polishing - I guess I will have to curb my Stainless Steel based urges!??! The strap is tricky - I agree that the blue strap is meant to pick out the hands but this seems like 'over egging the pudding' to me. I have never seen...
