Patek Philippe

To be honest,

I do not believe that Patek will go for steel on a larger scale. But limited supply - why not. Patek needs to create excitement on the market place and one good way is to create watches like 5565. Patek needs to be in the headlines and new watches which are hunted and sold in the grey market well over the list, help to create the hype.

I am following "everywhere" the discussion around Patek. A big part of the discussion is "would this be a good and safe investment?" Many people buy Patek watches because they think that getting one is as good as making a solid investment. For Patek it is important to keep this illusion alive.

With restructuring of the collection I mean visual changes combined with price decrease. Think about 5960P vs. 5905P. These two watches share the same movement but very small differences. The latter has just nicer pushers and 1.5 mm bigger case and 5905 has a buckle while 5960P has a folding clasp.

If you order 5905P with folding clasp, is is still about 10 % cheaper than 5960P. Is 5905P a lesser watch or cheaper to produced that 5960P? No ways. That is what I call "restructuring the collection". It could also work in such a way that i.e. 5170 will be offered in a new, more complex and modern case. And the price remains the same or reducing it a bit by changing a minor specification of the watch.

Best, Kari
