Patek Philippe

To be honest, I often feel the same

I love the brand, but at the same time, I feel like today's Patek is not yesterday's Patek - and I care significantly less for today's Patek and the direction it is going.
For a second, let's leave behind the difficulty of getting one - I have less of a problem than most but I certainly cannot get the majority of models.
But more significantly, I feel that Patek is more and more often taking shortcuts, or at least the easy way out - despite the ever-increasing prices. Don't get me wrong, Patek's finishing is very nice, especially for something that is produced at scale. However, flipping over a watch with the Caliber 26-330 SC (i.e., the 324) is pretty darn underwhelming when you are approaching or exceeding six figures. This is particularly so given the age of the movement, its smaller size relative to case diameters, the power reserve, etc. There is no value in watches... but I don't know, I'm just not feeling the emotional connection, to be frank.
