For me the most elegant Patek in the current collection is the 5153G. From photos, it looks quite ordinary but when you see it in reality, you will be able to appreciate the guilloche dial and the perfect case size.
I totally agree that the 3960 is a very elegant watch but for those on a budget, do take a look at the 5022 from 10 to 15 years ago which has a similar dial and movement but without the officer's case and knurled crown. And you would end up paying half the price of a 3960 for a simple looking yet elegant watch.
I noticed that in my small collection of watches, the ones that appear to be most elegant are those with arabic numerals and breguet hands. It is just something about arabic numerals that give the watch a hint of calligraphy.
I think the 5711 is elegant for a sports watch but I am not so sure as a dress watch. Beauty is indeed in the eyes of the beholder (and I hope I am not that blind!
