Your idea of a two-watch vintage Patek collection is wonderful.
And the 2509R is a beautiful reference.
Concerning the 5 references you are considering, here are my thoughts:
1) The Pagoda was created in 1997 so it’s not pre-1980. The 2441 would be a better choice. I tried on the Pagoda but didn’t like it very much on the wrist.
2) The 2417 and 2425 are great pieces if you are looking for unconventional case or lug shapes. But I haven’t seen them in person.
3) The Top Hat is the one which I feel the most attracted to but, again, I didn’t get the chance to see it in person yet.
Other references you could consider would be:
- 492 which is the source of inspiration of the modern 5105P (which I find stunning and would love to own).
- 2461 which I also feel very attracted to.
- 425 which is close to 2461.
- 2503, if you like “Bunny Ears” lugs.
- 3404, which is square not rectangular and which is very nice on the wrist.
- 2470 and 2469 which are tonneau shaped and very attractive.
I have posted about each of these references so you should be able to easily see what they look like.
