Wasn’t my experience with any Rolex I bought in the last 20+ years.
And some were bought far far away from big markets / cities.
Of course it must have been the case that dealers did not always or even frequently have a full line up in stock, it just so happened I was not really looking for things that might not have been in the case (the earliest purchases were a Sea Dweller and then a Sub).
Still any doubts that this is an era of sports watches? Well, take a look at this picture.

The fact that these watches havent been snapped up
Before delivery reflects the state of the market. 5240 / 5930 / 5524 is almost like 5960 of yesteryear. Sitting st every AD in the world!! I knew the 5270P wasnt flying off the shelves but in a window display.....ouch!!!
As an avid PP collector, this is a sad sight.
I hope TS knows what he is doing as I get a feeling that PP have been overproducing over the last few years.
We’re at a point now where whenever a piece is available some people are using that as a reason to disparage the reference - since it is available it must not be any good.
Then that same person will disparage the brand for “playing games” with other pieces that are unavailable. It’s just ridiculous. Of course, this dynamic allows some of us to take advantage of the availability of great pieces that the market is currently o...
I think the brands need to create non-movement display models so that passersby can see the them and their presence in the window won't have a negative connotation.
I can't believe they haven't done that yet. The models can be the property of PP and returned when they are discontinued.
Some Patek ADs do this already, I visited one just the other day in Milano. Some other ADs that I know even display their own (good) watches when they don't have enough supplies...:-)
You'll notice immediately these models since the carry a "Display only" sign and are normally set at 10:10 ;-) Of course, watch retailers are not the only shops that adopt this kind of strategy, ask virtually any woman who's trying to buy a nice bag... Ch...
I find every shop should have all/ most pieces on display. But display doesn’t mean it’s for sale!
This gives the customer the opportunity to try on specific models and make a proper decision whether or not to order the watch.

That you cant get a Nautilus is because demand is high and supply is low. The factvtaht these watches are on the shelves means either demand is low or supply is high!! No doubt they will move eventually. I offered to buy the 5270P if they threw in a 5711 ...

You understand everything! When you see that sport watches are far more expensive on Chrono24 than in boutiques and that is the opposite for the classical ones, you understand immediatly the structure of the demand!

The world timer with chronograph, the annual calendar with syringe hands, the 5270P and the big-ass rose gold travel time. Sad to see this, I'd buy them in a heartbeat...

very recently i was offered a bundle 5711A + 5320G and agreed for the sake of finally getting a 5711A. i cringed about having to buy the 5320G but the total deal is ok.
i also saw it at an AD in Bangkok
i was just looking around and asking them if they have a 5711 (which they don't) but the display case had a 5320G

Didnt even order what they needed. A box would arrive from Rolex that had a variety if watches. It's for the reason that they ended up having too many of one and too few of another.. WoS even used to give you 100% of purchase price when u traded up. Good ...
