Patek Philippe

Well...

.....no hesitation from me in calling the Aquanaut an un-Patek watch. No shame either! LoL. Having said that, I also think the Nautilus is also not especially Patek-like. You raise a really interesting question actually....as when one thinks of Patek, it is certainly true that a certain style of watch comes to mind. When I look at my other watches from Patek, I also see something unusual...namely that none of them are typical Pateks. Take the 5070P......there is much love on this forum for this watch. Indeed, I get enormous pleasure from mine. Yet, it would also need to be classified as quite un-Patek.

Case size is very large for a Patek. Movement by Lemania.....not especially Patek-y. Then look at the size of the movement relative to size of case. Patek have needed to work a great deal to compensate for the size difference ... no doubt it makes the watch very quirky. To my mind, the 5070P is also quite un-Patek. What it does tell me is that I like watch because of what it is rather than for any other motivation....and for me that is the key issue.
