Patek Philippe

Wristwatch Review November...and the winner is....

Dear All

I asked one of the most prolific Patek Philippe collectors I know, and someone who has an immense passion for the brand to judge, it was my pleasure to ask Dr.Kol aka Kari to pick the winner for November

Here is his response

NOVEMBER WRISTWATCH REVIEW:

No other internet based community could come with such a great idea than
the competition of wristwatch reviews of the watches of Patek Philippe.
With time we will get a great archive of reviews and I hope they will cover
at least most of the modern Patek Philippe watches.

If I understood correctly, the Mastermind of the Wristwatch Review Miranda
aka Imran asked me to judge the first four reviews and give my verdict.
This time I took the job quite seriously even I’m far away from home in
Singapore. I studied the four reviews carefully and thought all of them
with the help of around 10 bottles of Tiger beer.I thank Imran for the
great honour.

Here are my thoughts:

*Simcollector Ref. 5800:*

A nice and shortish review. My initial thoughts were that why I did not
work harder to get this reference. The review must be well done to wake me
up to think about that.

What was perhaps missing was a clear explanation what are the differences
between ref. 5800 and 5711. Clearly 5800 is a bit smaller but in my opinion
the main difference is the case construction. Ref. 5800 is loyal to the
case construction of the original 3700 where the case was constructed from
just two parts.

*Watch-guy.com 5975R:*

I found, as an owner of 5975P this review very interesting. I also enjoyed
all the pictures as well as the description how the reviewer really feel
about the watch. Furthermore, presenting the packing was a nice detail.

Why are the Moderators Moderators. Baron and Amanico posted two heavy
weight reviews.

*Amanico: 5070 in depth review:*

An absolutely stunnig review. This is among the very best ones I have never
studied. As an owner of 5070P I really appreciated it because the reviewer
understood the watch in question so much deeper than I never could.

Some highlight of the review were:

- Absolutely stunning photograps.
- Discussion about the technical details.
- All 4 versions were discussed.
- Comparison of 5070 with other prestigious chronograph.
- The review had a very personal touch and it was easy to understand that
the reviewer really loves “his” reference.

A super review!

*Baron 3448 the “wonder Watch”*

Again, the photos were fantastic. I also enjoyed the well written overlook
of the history of the reference. I had a good laugh when the reviewer
(nearly) wrote: “ Ringo Starr, Andy Warhol and Baron aka Joe owned ref.
3448”. I also enjoed the fact that the review was nicely detailed and the
author was so emotional about his watch.

As a negative comment I would like to mention that after freading the
review for the second time my brains started to repeat: “I need to get one,
I need to get one, I need to get one…”

*Verdict:*

Who could really compete with Amanico, the man of well over 150,000 posts.
But this time Baron is the winner because the review was written recently
while the review of Nico’s 5070 was about seven years old.

If the freshness of the review would not be a factor to consider, who could
really compete Amanico’s 5070 review. That is one of the classics.

Happy weekend to everybody and huge congrats to the winner(s)!

Best, Kari

So congratulations to the Baron!

Looking forward to December

I hope more will take part, good luck!!

Best
Imran
