Not that I’ve been tempted by their previous iteration as well (5 digit references). There’s nothing wrong with them for sure. They’re beautiful. But there’s something from the old that didn’t quite translate for me in the new. I can’t say “DNA” because R... 

The new ones starting with the Super Case are all wrong proportionally. Look at that picture Nico posted. The 6542 is stripped down to its essence. No fat. No fluff. The new GMT-Master is so bloated compared to it. It's like the 6542 is a fit and trim ath... 

Oddly, Rolex has gone from elegant tool watch to inelegant piece of jewelry.

Modern Rolex is perfect for the Instagram, look-at-me, era... Maybe "inelegant" is too strong, though.

These large lugs make a big difference not to say contrast between the case and the bracelet. That detail didn't please me, and still causes me some trouble... I think your point may be a tad different if the lugs were much slimmer. It is hard to believe ... 

what is pictured with the watches??

IMHO, Rolex manage to keep the link of their design very well, but the essence has shifted over the years. Maybe because now days it's considered as a luxury piece/ jewelry hence the bigger size & more blingy looks. While at the beginning, it was designed... 

still the Black dial BLRO WG stands far ahead of the new Blue dial - i think the contrast goes well with the Black... but then 6542 is the king - undisputable charm ! Best, mahesh.,
