You are sharing with us a great example!
The patina of your watch dial is awesome. Partially turning to caramel, makes for an stunning face.
These old Explorers have such an special charm of their own!
I also own a present version of this model, and though I like it very much, I feel it can not reach the character of the older versions. Those thick lumed indexes are a fantastic characteristic of this model, that Rolex should´nt have abandoned.
My own 1965, 1016 Explorer, gloss dial and gilt says hello and welcome to yours!

Red depth postion
Dear Baron- I like your 6610 Explorer! Could it also be that versions existed with the depth red printing further down the dial near the bottom instead of on top? Thanks Edmond
I don't think so
I have never seen one and I hae asked a wide variety of people who have experience going back several decades and not one of them has seen such an example. Never say never, but it looks like it never existed. If it did, it was in VERY low numbers.
