Hello! This is my first post here attaching some pics, and it is an special occasion because I have just got an Explorer I ref 1016, gilt, s/n 1.5M. As shown in the pics, (I am not very good with my camera) the dial it is half sunburst and the other half ...  

it's a stunning watch indeed. It's hard to find early 1016's with dials in god condition and this one is a beauty. Warm welcome !

Dear Baron- I like your 6610 Explorer! Could it also be that versions existed with the depth red printing further down the dial near the bottom instead of on top? Thanks Edmond

I have never seen one and I hae asked a wide variety of people who have experience going back several decades and not one of them has seen such an example. Never say never, but it looks like it never existed. If it did, it was in VERY low numbers.

I ask because xxx is selling indeed such an example and I want to know if the dial is real or not. I have bought a watch at xxx before with an apparantly questionable dial (was a 5513 Military sub). Lot Nr 223 on the upcoming auction in Geneva. If you lik...

... I try my best, with a very casual home made lightning rig and and a very old Nikon camera (3,2 mpixels!). My photography looks crude, when compared with some fellow members here, like Nicolas/Amanico or Nilomis. May be some day I can get a bite closer...
