Now that I’m 45, I tend to favor slightly smaller watches, like 38 mm is really the sweet spot for me these days. I woke up this morning and asked myself, is my 40 mm Sub (with maxi case) too bulky for my 7 inch wrist?? I don’t feel this fitment issue wit...  

Mine sits flat on the wrist. But these do seem bulky. It is a great watch. The think bezel doesn’t help in this regard. I’ve debating moving my sub but it’s a great all arounder

If you moved it, what would you consider that is less bulky and smaller?

PF and GP and chopard have nice options.

And I have always said I’d regret giving it up. Perhaps the happy medium is 2 liner Sub. Appreciate your reply

At this point, the only Rolex for me is no date Sub. Just a matter of holding current, parting with it or trying Sub 2 liner

It is a sports watch and the size is appropriate. But if you think it is, that is what matters. Also if you really find it uncomfortable, then that is another good reason to get rid of it. However, I would think long and hard about getting rid of this ico...

The submariner is a classic and very versatile. I agree that you will likely regret selling it down the road.

While it may be bit “bulky” compared to the other 2, it sure sits quite well on your wrist.

Like the others , I think it looks appropriate for your wrist. Only you can answer that question, I would say if you find yourself avoiding wearing the watch, that might be an answer. It’s an awesome Rolex.

We’re on the same page there. A date Sub is not even a consideration for me. Just if I’m keeping this no date or going with the less bulky 14060

But I can understand your concerns, I wear mostly vintage watches with 34-36mm in diameter nowadays and every time I switch to the six digit Submariner or Speedmaster I need some time to adjust. It can feel like wearing a dinner plate on your wrist at fir... 

In the 38 mm world, I can’t help but draw comparison to my 38 mm GP Laureato. I know, it’s an apples to oranges comparison. But the GP is so sleek, light and elegant, while at the same time somehow being sporty. It’s very possible my Sub Bulk-itus comes f... 

Fortunately we have moved on from the years of grotesquely large timepieces and for me the Sub is right in the sweet spot of size. Masculine and also thin enough to stay elegant.

Part of what makes the Sub so attractive is its relatively thin 12.5 mm case thickness. These days, I have zero interest in anything thicker. Thank you

I read all the answers and there are some who think it looks great, others saying yes it looks large. I think our perceptions are changing, but people are divided as on one side there are those with huge Apple Watches and Garmins and Cubitus, on the other...
