Those guys at Rolex know how to keep the rare things.
I would imagine the Blue insert is the rarest to find after the Bakelites. Could be the same reason fragile materials Bakelite and fragile paint for the blue insert.
The red hand also has all kinds on mysteries.

The pictures exaggerate the texture a little as to the naked it is less pronounced. However the color is very true. I have see various example from new old stock to modulated. This one has a lighter shade towards the inside and then darker on the ridges. ...
And.... The typical Long E MK 1 dial!

...this is one of the few MK1 i saw with the full red GMT hand. i usually find it on MK2 dials. i think the contrast with the blue bezel is very charming. congrats. chris
