... about the Explorer II. Also It happened exactly the same with my relation with this fine watch. I owe the discovery of this reference to our friend Nicolas. It was after reading his passionate post about the Explorer II a few years ago, that I opened ...  

It's funny that I wore mine a few weeks ago and got 2 comments from my wife and a friend about how nice the watch looked on my wrist yet neither of them are watch lovers I agree with Joe that it's a watch that grows on you the more you wear it Regards Joh...  

......as to be honest it took about 2 years before i started to grow to love it....many times in fact i looked to sell it....BUT, every time i looked to sell it, my wife would tell me that she didn't care less if i sold ant of the other Rolex, but this Ex...

It doesn't have the appeal of the Sub or GMt....yet for those who own it, there is a strong bond.

With all due respect, It is all very subjective, Baron. I do not own a 'stright end' but I find this reference is just as 'appealing' and interesting as the Sub and the GMT from a design point of view and as a tool watch. Nice to move away from the classi... 

This and its unrolex cousin, the 1016, are two of my favorites.

The 3 / 6 / 9 dial and the hands are so Rolex! Best, Nicolas

of smooth bezel that is narrow relative to the case width, no cyclops, no date at all, the choice of minute indices, the general low profile, it does not have all the rolex cues for me. Even the rolex crown and name somehow recede. You have a point about ... 

......on the wrist they just don't look like the standard Rolex
