Two U.S. Grand Seikos
As a follow-up to my post yesterday dedicated to the
Grand Seiko Paris Vendôme SBGK011 & SBGK013, here are
two other models dating from
2022 and made
exclusively for the
American market.
The
SBGK015 “
Ryūsendō” is a limited edition of
300 pieces.
Its
dial is
inspired by the vivid
blue and
emerald-
green underground
lakes of the
Ryūsendō (龍泉洞), a
cave located in Iwaizumi in the eastern Iwate Prefecture.

The
steel case measures
39 x 11.6 x
44 mm.

The watch is powered by
hand-wound calibre 9S63.

The
SBGK017 is a U.S.
Special Edition (
not limited edition)
model.

Its
dial is said to take its
inspiration from
Nanbu tekki ironware, a form of
traditional metalwork produced in the city of
Morioka in Iwate prefecture.
However, the
pattern is clearly
identical to that of the
2020 Paris Vendôme SBGK011 and
SBGK013, which is said to be inspired by the
cobblestone streets of
Paris...
Grand Seiko's
marketing and
storytelling sometimes come across as somehow
artificial and
disappointing...

appeal to
you?
Thanks for looking.
